Palmas Piano Duo is a brother-and-sister Duo, playing together for more than 30 years.
Since the beginning of their career Palmas Piano Duo distinguished themselves for their unusual piano duet repertory and drew attention of press and critics for their “excellent musicianship in terms of dynamics and phrasing” besides the “uniqueness of the musical material” recorded in their Cds (B. Ro.). The Palmas Piano Duo have received excellent rewiews by national and international press and pointed out as “Want List material” by Fanfare Magazine.
The Duo won many first prizes in national and international competitions, among those: Honorary Mention at the 12th International Web Concert Hall Competition, USA, Diploma d'Onore at TIM (Tournoi International de Musique ) in Paris.
The Duo was guested several times by Rai Radio 3 (Italy) (La stanza della musica, Piazza Verdi, etc..) live programme that guests prestigious artists of world-wide reputation; RSI (Switzerland) has dedicated to Palmas Piano Duo several Radio programmes of “ as well (Arabesque).
They performed throughout Italy at “Il suono di Liszt a Villa d'Este”- Tivoli, Museum of Theatre alla Scala - Milan, ”MiTo Fringe-Milan, Premio Musica Roma, Spazio Novecento-Cremona, Festival Musicale della Riforma-Turin, A.GI.MUS- Padova, Auditorium in Velletri, Piano City Festival in Milan, etc.
Their discography includes 5 CDs. 3 for the Italian Label “La Bottega Discantica”. Their first cd, with the world première recording of Dvorák's Dumky, in the composer's original version for piano duet and the Quintet op. 1 by Ernö Dohnányi, was released in 2008. On the occasion of the bicentenary of Robert Schumann (2010), the Duo recorded the Quartett op. 47 and Quintet op.44, in the version for piano duet by Johannes Brahms and Clara Schumann. The Third CD (2022) was dedicated to Franz Schubert including Fantasie in F min, Variations on an Original Theme D813 and Lieder transcriptions. Palmas Piano Duo has contributed to the world première recording of the -well tempered clavier- by Bach in the four-hand version of Théodore Dubois (2022 and 2024).
Their recordings were broadcast by RSI (Switzerland), Radio Classica and Rai Radio 3 (Italy), Radio 4 (The Netherlands) and Radio Vaticana.
